Today instead of focusing on lavish meals and delicate cuisines, we decided to pay tribute to the most important mug of coffee that most people cannot live without!

For some people coffee is the first and last drink of the day. Their entire day depends on their coffee mug and its energizing power. I too, fall into this category of coffee addicts; even though my day does not depend on that perfectly brewed coffee I honestly think that a good coffee has the power to change your day for the better. With this positive note on my mind I headed down to Rajagiriya to experience some of the renowned coffees in town. 

Baristas is one of the most well known hang out spots in Sri Lanka. With five branches surrounding the city of Colombo and around, this coffee joint is undeniably one of the favourites among many coffee addicts who enjoy a chatty session while sipping their preferred coffee.  

'The Art of Espresso' is the latest theme that has taken Barista by storm! The theme has brought in a new range of beverages to entice and soothe the minds of coffee and chocolate lovers. 

In order to experience this new theme I decided to taste the famous signature drink; the Barista blast. The cold beverage was an ideal drink for that time of the day. Café Messicano, a drink made with dark chocolate, cinnamon topped with ice cream and Ameretto; the chocolate shake with the amaretto flavour are some of the other drinks that should be thought of when heading down to Baristas.

In addition to the unlimited variety of coffees, lattes, smoothies Barista's offer, they also have a selection of savouries and sweets to accompany the tasty coffees. The chicken sandwiches were quite good but the savouries that topped my list of goodies were the mutton role and the chicken quiche. The mutton role was spicy and tasty while the chicken quiche provided the much needed crispiness for the meal.
